The start date of the Albuquerque Main Library's quilting program will commence January 2026. Classes will be held on the 2nd Friday of the month, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Participants can reserve a spot online by following this link and selecting the according date on our event calendar if they wish to participate in the program.

There are four different quilt blocks that will be the primary focus for the program:  Pinwheel, Nine Patch Block, Hot Air Balloon, and Star of the West. All the blocks will be 12.5" x 12.5" unfinished (12" x 12" finished). I am also encouraging all participants to submit their own 12.5" x 12.5" unfinished block that is not one of the core four if they desire, which will also be added to the community quilt project. *1 block entry per person with their full preferred name on paper can be dropped off at the Main library or branch of their choosing.

When NMQA members are helping cut/assemble kits there is full creative autonomy when it comes to colors and fabric type. Color theme can be wild, varied, and expressive, just like the quirkiness and eclectic aesthetic of the Albuquerque community! I want the community quilt to explode with variety and wild abandon. The goal is to have no two kits that look alike!
