Kate Quinn is a nationally known educator who lives in Albuquerque. Her "Scrappy Anniversary" lecture for NMQA will discuss a lifetime of artistic development as a quilter and artist.
Kate's fascination with quilting began when she received a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt as a wedding present. The gift of a second scrappy quilt further solidified her love of fabrics and colors. She made her first quilt to celebrate the birth of her first child around 1993 and has loved quilting ever since. She loves sharing her passion for quilting and art, passing on a centuries old tradition, and creating beautiful items of comfort.
The lecture will starting at the very beginning of her quilting life to culminate with the quilt of a lifetime through scraps of fabric.
Topics include: Scrap planning, organizing scraps to create design value, color plans (or not), shape choices for quilting remnants, monochromatic scrapping, developing quilting skills as you scrap to create make more elevated designs, and "scrappy" verses a "scrappy look."
